The first NAMI Rockland Award was presented in 1985
to recognize and express appreciation
to individuals who had contributed significantly
to improving the lives of people with mental illness.
Over the years, the Florence Gould Gross Award
named for NAMI Rockland's founding president
(formerly NAMI-FAMILYA of Rockland County, Inc.)
has been presented to people who have contributed in diverse ways
employers of people with mental illnesses, mental health clinicians and researchers,
community members, family members and individuals living with a mental health condition.
